About the Opportunity
A rapidly growing financial services organization is seeking a Director of Reconciliation & Settlements to lead critical money movement, settlement, and financial reconciliation operations. Reporting directly to executive leadership, this role will oversee daily cash operations, partner settlements, operational controls, and reconciliation processes across multiple financial platforms.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in consumer lending, payment processing, card settlements, ACH operations, and financial controls, along with a proven track record of improving processes, implementing automation, and leading high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
Capital Partner Management
- Serve as the primary operational contact for financial and capital partners.
- Support onboarding of new funding and financial partners.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting and transaction file delivery.
- Maintain strong partner relationships and resolve operational issues.
Reconciliation & Settlement Operations
- Oversee daily cash movements and settlement activities.
- Manage debit and credit card reconciliation and settlement processes.
- Review and balance card network transactions and settlement files.
- Monitor chargebacks, disputes, and exception processing.
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and ledger variances.
- Prepare journal entries related to loan activity and cash movement.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, audit, and internal control requirements.
Operational Controls & Reporting
- Design, implement, and enhance reconciliation frameworks across multiple systems.
- Develop operational reporting and performance metrics.
- Monitor financial controls and identify process improvements.
- Provide reporting and analysis to senior leadership.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Partner with Technology, Finance, and Product teams to develop scalable solutions.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes.
- Reduce operational risk through improved workflows and controls.
- Document policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop reconciliation and operations staff.
- Support customer service, commercial, and operational teams.
- Participate in new product launches and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate across departments to drive operational excellence.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in financial operations, reconciliation, settlements, or payment operations.
- Previous management or leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Consumer lending operations
- ACH processing
- Merchant services and payment processing
- Debit and credit card settlement operations
- Card network settlement (Visa, Mastercard, etc.)
- Chargebacks and dispute management
- Financial reconciliation and accounting principles
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building or redesigning reconciliation processes at scale.
- Experience in fintech, consumer finance, lending, or payment processing environments.
- Knowledge of reconciliation software platforms.
- SQL, reporting, or data analysis experience is a plus.

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and data analysis.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $140,000 - $160,000
