We are seeking a highly accountable and execution-focused Financial Controller / Director of Finance to oversee all accounting, financial operations, reporting, internal controls, and administrative functions. This is a critical leadership role responsible for building scalable systems and infrastructure to support rapid growth.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for building, training, and managing a high-performing offshore accounting and administrative team while simultaneously leading and improving our local finance, HR, and office teams. In addition to financial leadership, this position will oversee HR administration, legal coordination, insurance management, licensing, and compliance.
We are looking for a strategic operator who is obsessed with accountability, systems, and execution.
Finance & Accounting Leadership
Lead all accounting and financial operations of the company.
Oversee Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), Billing, and Payroll coordination.
Manage Job Costing, Cash Flow Management, Financial Reporting, Budgeting & Forecasting, and Vendor Management.
Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closes.
Develop financial dashboards, KPIs, and executive reporting to improve profitability analysis and departmental accountability.
Monitor labor costs, overhead, margins, collections, and overall company financial performance.
Create and enforce strong financial controls, systems, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Improve cash flow and working capital management.
Partner with ownership and leadership on strategic financial planning and decision-making.
Build & Manage Offshore Team
Recruit, build, train, and scale a high-performing offshore accounting and administrative team.
Create organizational structure, accountability charts, workflows, and reporting systems.
Develop offshore processes for AR follow-up, AP processing, Billing, Collections, Data Entry, Reporting support, and administrative finance functions.
Oversee HR administration, Licensing tracking, Insurance renewals, and general Administrative support via the offshore team.
Train, mentor, and hold offshore staff accountable to KPIs, deadlines, and performance expectations.
Implement scorecards, accountability systems, and performance management tools.
Ensure seamless collaboration and communication between offshore and local teams.
Manage Local Finance & Administrative Team
Lead and hold accountable local accounting, HR, and administrative staff.
Improve performance, communication, accountability, and efficiency within the local team.
Build and refine team structure, SOPs, workflows, and reporting systems.
Ensure strong collaboration between finance, operations, dispatch, sales, and leadership teams.
Develop and track measurable KPIs and performance expectations across departments.
HR & Administrative Leadership
Oversee HR administrative functions including Recruiting coordination, Employee Onboarding/Offboarding, Benefits administration, and Payroll coordination.
Manage employee documentation, policy implementation, personnel accountability, and organizational structure.
Help build HR systems, SOPs, and accountability processes.
Work with leadership on employee performance, workforce planning, and organizational growth.
Legal, Insurance & Licensing Oversight
Manage company insurance programs, including General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Commercial Auto, and Umbrella/Excess Coverage.
Handle Claims coordination, Insurance audits, and Renewals.
Coordinate with legal counsel regarding Contracts, Risk management, Employment matters, Compliance documentation, Collections support, and Vendor/Client agreements.
Oversee company licenses, certifications, permits, and renewals.
Ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory agencies.
Track deadlines and maintain operational compliance requirements.
Systems, Process Improvement & Leadership
Create and implement SOPs across finance and administration.
Improve accuracy and reporting through automation and technology.
Strengthen internal controls and operational processes.
Build scalable infrastructure to support company growth.
Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions.
Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and high-performance throughout the organization.
Required
7+ years of finance, accounting, or operational leadership experience.
Prior experience as a Controller, Director of Finance, Finance Manager, or similar senior leadership role.
Strong experience leading multi-person accounting and administrative teams.
Proven ability to build and manage offshore/remote teams.
Strong knowledge of Financial reporting, Cash flow management, AR/AP management, Job costing, Budgeting & forecasting, and Financial controls.
Solid understanding of HR administration, Insurance management, and Licensing & compliance.
Strong operational mindset and leadership ability.
Excellent organizational, accountability, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to build systems and improve processes in a fast-growing environment.
Preferred
Experience in service-based businesses, trades, field service, HVAC, fire protection, mechanical contracting, electrical, or construction industries.
Experience with QuickBooks, ServiceTrade, ServiceTitan, NetSuite, Sage, or similar ERP/accounting systems.
Experience scaling finance departments in high-growth companies.
EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) / Traction experience is a plus.
