About: A growing commercial bank with a multi-state presence is seeking a Commercial Credit Underwriter to join its expanding commercial lending team in Los Angeles. This position is responsible for analyzing, underwriting, and structuring commercial credit opportunities while partnering with Relationship Managers and senior management to support portfolio growth and maintain strong credit quality.
Responsibilities:
- Underwrite commercial loan requests, including C&I, Commercial Real Estate (CRE), SBA, and USDA-guaranteed loans.
- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and collateral.
- Prepare credit presentations and loan recommendations.
- Structure commercial credit facilities and identify appropriate risk mitigants.
- Partner with Relationship Managers throughout the underwriting process.
- Support new loan originations, renewals, and modifications.
- Maintain strong credit quality while meeting underwriting turnaround expectations.
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of commercial credit underwriting experience.
- Experience analysing commercial financial statements and cash flow.
- Strong understanding of commercial lending principles and credit risk.
- Commercial banking experience required; SBA, USDA, or other government-guaranteed lending experience is a plus.
- Construction lending experience is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent commercial banking experience.
